Partnership for Policy Integrity Welcomes Two New Staff Scientists

The Partnership for Policy Integrity (PFPI) is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff scientists to its dedicated team: Dr. Jacob Carter and Dr. Sam Davis.

Dr. Jacob Carter received his Ph.D. in Ecology and Environmental Biology from University of Kansas. Prior to joining PFPI, Dr. Carter served as the research director for the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists. An internationally recognized scholar and advocate for strong scientific integrity and science-informed processes in government decision making, Dr. Carter's previous roles include positions with the Environmental Protection Agency and the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy.

“PFPI is doing critical work, and I’m looking forward to investigating the linkages between bioenergy, science-informed forest policy, and climate change,” said Dr. Carter.

Dr. Sam Davis received their Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences at Wright State University specializing in forest floor ecology, invasive species, and climate change. An ecologist with complementary skills in graphic design, web development, and mapping, Dr. Davis comes to PFPI after nearly eight years at Dogwood Alliance as lead scientist working on bioenergy and justice issues.

“I’m excited to continue the important work of holding industry and governments accountable for their greenwashing and encouraging them to align policies with the best available science,” said Dr. Davis.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Carter and Dr. Davis to our team," said Dr. Mary Booth, Director at PFPI. "Their extensive expertise and passion for science-based policy will greatly increase our capacity to protect forests and the climate."
